Murder in Strasbourg — a camouflaged murder

I wrote this story after finding that the daughter of a police witness in Bergen, Norway in 1970 was found murdered in 1972 in Strasbourg.

My initial research was flawed as I did not have access to archived Strasbourg newspapers. It was a view from Norway of an event in Strasbourg. A somewhat unreliable account.

Out of the blue, I had several responses — a friend of my first suspect replied by email; a journalist provided translated notes on the Strasbourg newspaper archive and interviewed a witness and I received a reply from the 1972 magistrate.

But then it gets a bit strange: the journalist didn’t want to write his 2021 interview as a newspaper article; the magistrate couldn’t remember the murder of the teenage girl and the name of one witness was elusive. Another crime journalist decided she was too busy to write this up as a crime article. But I did get in contact with the Kripos cold case team. Unfortunately, they can only go where mandated. They can’t be directed by outsiders.

But in the end with help of other researchers, I was able to piece it together. One day someone will take an interest to pursue this case. It may also solve another — the Isdal Woman case from 1970.
