The Datsun 240K — a car for killers, rapists, sex offenders and criminals in Australia

In 1991 when Stuart (or Stewart?) Pearce murdered his family in Adelaide and set the house on fire he drove away in an immaculate Datsun 240K and dumped it in a shopping centre. It seems he valued the car more than his family.

In 1993 when a rapist picked up a hitchhiker in a green car you could guess that the car was a green Datsun 240K.

I have put some eyes in the police sketch to help them out:

In 1995 when a Datsun 240K coupe was being sold its number plate was from a different car. It was from a gold sedan. Obviously, this person had a criminal intent to sell a car with false plates and possibly a clocked mileage. But either the fake car or original car continued in use to 2002.

In 2004 when a married vicar with children was arrested for sexually molesting young women in Adelaide — you could guess one of the cars he owned as a younger married man was a Datsun 240K.

“although we owned a Datsun 240K we sold it in Adelaide”

Yet when the police in Melbourne were looking for a driver of a car with bucket seats who had kidnapped and raped at least 2 young girls and possibly murdered a third between 1987 and 1991, they didn’t think to search Adelaide for a Datsun 240K owned by Mr. Cruel.
