The New Year card that was never sent

At some time in December 1969, Hermann Jöhr started to write a New Year’s card to Wolfgang Wackernagel in Basel. But the card was never sent and probably left in the Basel library on a table or hidden in a returned library book.

The Basel library kept his New Year card and archived it. But privacy rules meant the card was kept hidden for 50 years in a file marked Hermann Jöhr. In 2022 the same Basel archive was digitized and made available online but the one item they failed to scan was Hermann’s New Year card.

I investigated Hermann Jöhr in A Camouflaged Murder to see whether he was connected to the murder of Mariann Thunestvedt:
